All too frequently people regard a barn dance with recorded music as an economy measure. This is a mistake.
Certainly if you have a limited budget then you will get far better value for money if you opt for a good caller with recorded music as opposed to a band that charges a low fee because it is the only way it can get bookings!
There is, however, a number of other circumstances where a "disco barn dance" is likely to be the better option.
Using recorded music you can still get a full band sound whilst using the minimum of floor space.
Sometimes it is necessary to set up several hours in advance. A full sound check for a band requires all its members to be present, but a disco only needs the caller to be present.
ABDC has a large number of versatile bands, but different styles require different instruments and different amplification; a versatile folk disco as supplied by ABDC carries a full range of authentic material.
