What is Line Dancing?

A LINE DANCE is a sequence of repeatable steps performed to music by any number of individuals usually facing one particular direction or wall. Most dances change direction during the sequence so that a different wall is faced each time the sequence is repeated.

Usually you dance on your own without a partner to popular Country Western music. The steps are a combination of folk, jazz, rap, clogging, swing and rock & roll, reflecting the wide variety of cultures from which the American West was peopled . Although it is a structured form of dance there is plenty of scope for individual creativity and variety.

As well as being good physical exercise, Line Dancing is unadulterated fun - pure and simple. It's today! It's hot! And it's here to stay! Come and try it for yourself and you'll find out just why it has become so popular.

Here comes the science bit ...

It has been estimated that on average exercise only extends one's life by the same amount of time as the total time actually spent exercising. To avoid this "Catch 22" situation make sure you choose an exercise regime that you really enjoy. Good Western music and the fun and laughter that goes with traditional Line Dancing releases endorphins in the brain - an important part of the body's immune system.
