BLUEGRASS MUSIC

"Bluegrass" music developed from the old string-band culture of the USA's rural Southern States during the late 1930s. It was thus named from the region in which it was born - the "Bluegrass" State of Kentucky and its neighbours.

As such it is the most appropriate music to accompany the "Cowboy" or "Frontier" dances of a traditional Barn Dance or Hoedown.

ABDC is proud to represent:

Aces High

- a four-piece band featuring all the major bluegrass instruments - fiddle, guitars, banjo, dobro and acoustic bass - with male and female leads and backing vocals.

This talented band truly believes that the audience is there to be entertained. The fact that it is able quickly to read the mood of any audience and then to include music suitable for all present undoubtedly contributes to the success of this most popular group.

Although well able to provide a full evening's entertainment on its own, the addition of audience participation through a barn or square dance will guarantee you and your clientele or guests a night to remember.

Barnstorm

A superbly confident, superbly competent 3 or 4 piece band. Whether or not you want to dance the night away or simply to relax and listen to excellent renditions of the Bluegrass classics and an up-beat Bluegrass treatment of some of the established mainstream Country standards this is the band for you!

Bluegrass Experience

Band Photo

Four exciting musicians who have found power, haunting harmonies, and a sustaining strength in the music they love. This hot-picking, foot-stomping string quartet play it for real and in over-drive, finding the spirit of their music in the everyday world around them.

This talented band is also able to offer workshops in all the major Bluegrass instruments (very beginners - any instrument!), Appalachian dance, performance skills, song writing, voice and harmony singing - as well as a range of Children's workshops.

All the above bands are fortunate to be able to call upon the services of some of the UK's finest traditional American dance callers for Barn, Line or Square dances when required.
